Copyright and takedown

Last reviewed 30 October 2026

Silkworth.net is an archive of Alcoholics Anonymous history assembled over more than twenty years, largely by volunteers. Material is published here in the belief that it is either out of copyright, reproduced with the copyright owner's permission, published in line with the owner's wishes, or used fairly for the purposes of research, study, reporting and commentary.

If you own the copyright to something here

An archive built by many hands over two decades will not get every case right. Contributors are volunteers, and not every one of them is a copyright lawyer. If you hold the copyright to material published on this site and you have not authorised its use here, we want to hear from you and we will act promptly.

Write to copyright@silkworth.net and tell us:

We will acknowledge your message, and where material has been published without authority we will take it down or correct the attribution rather than argue the point. Where we believe the use is permitted, we will say so and explain why, so that you can disagree with a position rather than with silence.

A.A. material

Brief excerpts from A.A. literature are reprinted with the permission of Alcoholics Anonymous World Services, Inc. That permission does not mean A.A.W.S. has reviewed or approved anything published here, or that A.A. agrees with any view expressed on this site. Silkworth.net is not affiliated with Alcoholics Anonymous World Services, Inc. or with any A.A. service entity.

Using material from this site

Much of what is held here belongs to other people, so we are not in a position to grant you permission to reuse it. If you want to reproduce something beyond quotation, go to the rights holder. Where we know who that is, write to us and we will tell you what we know.
