LETTER from H. SUMNER CAMPBELL of New York NY, Sum is
an AA General Service Trustee and Chairman of the Nominating Committee,
He is also a member of the Study Committee on Procedures and Structure
Dear Jack:
I have carefully studied Bill's recommendations and in answer hereto would make the following suggestions:
That the Committee on Structure and Procedures recommend to the General Service Board:
No. 1 That we change State representation to regional representation and set up an electoral system for electing out-of-town AA Trustees.
No. 2 The addition of one new class A Trustee and one new B Trustee to be elected in 1963 and that the necessary amendments to the certificate of incorporation and the bylaws be made. The above mentioned Class B Trustee to be called an Area Trustee and he should be elected from the United States.
That a second Class B Area Trustee be added in 1964 and a second Class A be added. The second Area Trustee to be also elected or selected from the United States.
No. 4 I would suggest that out-of-town prospects for Class A Trustee be considered equally with New York Class A Trustee.
That action be taken regarding the Trustee ratio and Trustees at large in 1965 after the accomplishment of 2 and 3.
No. 6 I see no need for an overhaul of the Nominating Committee, as it presently comprises two Class A and two Class B Trustees, the president of AAWS, the Chairman of the Board of the Grapevine and one member of the AAWS Staff.
Sincerely yours,
Sum Campbell
